Further animations vividly depict the harmony between the pelvic floor, lower back, and abdominal cylinder muscles enhancing the importance of Pelvic Floor Muscle Functional Training. These insights will arm you with the knowledge to support your pelvic organs, reduce episodes of incontinence, nurture your lower back, and go about your day with confidence.

Gill Smith: Empowering Women's Pelvic Health Physio
For over two decades, I, Gill Smith, have been passionately treating and educating women on the critical matters of Pelvic Health.
My mission is singular yet profound: to impart the knowledge I’ve garnered over the years, ensuring no woman feels alone or helpless when faced with Pelvic Health concerns.
As someone deeply committed to this mission, I’ve dedicated twenty years to cultivating my Pelvic Health Physio and Pilates clinics in Bayside Melbourne. Here, the focus isn’t just on isolated concerns but on understanding the interrelated nature of issues like pelvic organ prolapse, bladder leakage, and low back pain. Research, my trusted ally, has shown that these aren’t disparate conditions but interwoven threads of the same fabric.
Peeking into my educational journey: I proudly hold three postgraduate qualifications in Physiotherapy. 1997 at La Trobe University was a transformative year as I immersed myself in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, sharpening my assessment skills and clinical reasoning by focusing on women with low back pain. A decade later, I plunged into the realm of Continence and Pelvic Floor Muscle Rehabilitation, at The University of Melbourne understanding the intricacies of bladder, bowel, and pelvic organ dysfunctions. And always being one to stay abreast of evolving knowledge, 2022 saw me diving back into academia, completing the Professional Certificate of Conservative Management of Pelvic Organ Prolapse at the University of South Australia. This intensive study invigorated my approach, equipped me with the latest research insights, and fortified my proficiency in aiding women with pelvic organ prolapse.
Recognising the power of digital platforms and the need to reach and assist women globally, all my experience as a Pelvic Health Physio converged into the development of “Pelvic Exercise 4U” – an online Pelvic Health Exercise solution. This platform is a testament to my commitment to making quality pelvic health education and solutions accessible to all women, no matter where they are. Importantly noting that my Modules are intended as supplementary, rather than as an essential part, and are educational tools not a substitute for individualised medical treatment.
Anchoring my practice is the biopsychosocial model, emphasizing the interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors. This holistic approach guarantees that care is individualized, addressing the unique and multifaceted needs of every client.
Every day, I marry clinical reasoning and evidence-based research with expert opinion ensuring the care I offer is rooted in proven science while being tailored to individual needs. This combination is influenced by my learning in the Cognitive Functional Therapy approach, which prioritizes ‘Mind-Body Control’.
Beyond the clinic, my personal journey as a mother provides a firsthand perspective on the delicate balance between professional aspirations and familial responsibilities. This experience amplifies my empathy, allowing a deeper connection with women navigating the transformative phases of pregnancy, motherhood, and beyond.
At my core, I am ceaselessly inspired, inherently positive, and passionate about Women’s Pelvic Health. My devotion isn’t just professional but personal, advocating for lifelong learning and empowerment. With every consultation, every class, every online interaction, and through “Pelvic Exercise 4U”, my vision remains clear: to empower women, helping them realize and cherish the strength within, ensuring a robust, well-functioning body through all life’s chapters.
